These days most
of us are so busy we don’t have two weeks -- or even three days -- to do an
intense body detoxification. However with all the pollutants in our air, water
and food, along with the stress we put on our internal organs from overeating,
alcohol, medications, and anxiety, doing a detox twice a year is a great idea.
It releases toxins from our body, gives our hard working internal organs a
little break and promotes overall good health.
Below are 8 steps
to a safe, gentle and easy detox you can do twice per year. While even a short
detox of three to five days is helpful, following these steps for one to two
weeks would be even better. While this detox takes planning, preparation and
persistence, it’s a realistic way to give your health and wellbeing a much
needed boost, and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
How to Cleanse Your Body
1. Take a Detox
Formula - Clear Body Detox contains a unique blend of herbs formulated to work
in combination with active homeopathic ingredients to dextoxify and nourish the
liver, kidneys, and blood, thereby improving overall health. Clear Body Detox
is formulated for short-term use of 1-3 months.
2. Eat Less – Eat
several small meals and snacks (never get completely full) throughout the day
made up of mostly organic, fresh, and raw fruits and vegetables with small
portions of organic lean meats, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds – in
other words whole foods. Some easy to incorporate foods that are great for a
detox diet include lemon juice, beets, dark green vegetables, garlic and
apples. Eliminate processed, fried, preserved and fatty foods as well as foods
with added sugar, salt, coloring, MSG, nitrates or artificial ingredients.
Eliminate alcohol, coffee and nicotine.
3. Drink Up –
substantially increase the amount of water you drink each day and add fresh
lemon juice and two teaspoons of fresh ground flaxseed to your morning glass of
water for an added detox boost. Drink a glass or two of organic green tea every
morning.
4. Exercise –
Sweat it out at least once per day with moderate exercise such as brisk
walking, jogging or hiking. Incorporating yoga or tai chi can also help your
body release toxins.
5. Breathe –
Breathing deeply improves blood and oxygen flow and releases toxins. Take 5
minutes every morning, noon, and evening to take slow, long, deep breaths.
6. Sleep –
Sleeping is when our bodies rest, restore and rejuvenate and our cells go
through the reparative process. Sleep is a very important element of detoxification,
so allow yourself 7-9 hours of sleep every night ideally between the hours
between 10pm and 5am.
7. Get Massages –
Deep tissue massage is an effective and powerful way to release toxins from the
body. Schedule a few of these massages during your detox and remember to drink
a lot of water before and after.
8. Mentally Detox
– Since you’re doing a body detoxification, you might as well do a mind detox
while you’re at it. Eliminate or significantly reduce TV, radio and cell phone
time, and limit computer time to work (after you read my blog posts, of
course!).
