8 Natural Remedies For Sinus Heaches This Allergy Season

Stop those debilitating allergy or sinus headaches before they start!

Sinuses are small pockets or cavities in the skull that sit above and between the eyes, behind the bridge of the nose, behind the nose and on the cheekbones below the eyes. They are normally empty except for a soft, thin mucous lining. However, allergens such as pollen, mold or pet dander can assault our sinuses, causing them to swell and become congested with excessive mucous, resulting in itching, discomfort and pain. During allergy season when pollen or mold counts are highest, this extra pressure on the sinuses often triggers allergy or sinus headaches.

There are many remedies for sinus headaches ranging from prescription and over-the-counter medicines to natural homeopathic and herbal remedies like Clear Sinus & Ear or Clear Headache.  However, if you suffer from sinus headaches during allergy season, there are many easy steps you can take to prevent or minimize allergy headache pain and even prevent sinus infection:

Natural Remedies for Sinus Headaches

1. Avoid allergens and smoke: When you are exposed to them, take a hot shower as soon as possible afterward.

2. Improve Inside Air Quality: Use a high quality HEPA filter in your air conditioner/heater, and if you live in a dry climate, use a high quality humidifier. Close your windows and doors on windy days.

3. Give your sinuses a bath! Keep your sinuses clear and lubricated by using a nasal irrigation system such as a neti pot and/or saline nasal spray on a daily basis.

4. The All Purpose Miracle Cure: Drink plenty of filtered water to keep your sinuses well-hydrated and help them drain naturally.

5. The 3 No-No’s: Avoid dairy products, alcohol and processed sugars when you are most prone to allergy headaches.

6. Strengthen your immune system throughout allergy season by supplementing your diet with a homeopathic and herbal remedy like Clear Immune Support, as well as extra vitamin C, D and E.

7. Get plenty of sleep each night and sleep with your head elevated about six inches to help keep your sinuses draining naturally.

8. Create a steam bath for your sinuses by adding 5-7 drops of one of the following essential oils into a large bowl or basin of hot water, putting a towel over your head around the bowl and inhaling the steam: eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree oil or lavender. This is a natural and enjoyable way to clear your sinuses.
